EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH

HELD THEIR SPRING REVIVAL 2025

The Ebenezer Baptist Church in Quitman, Texas recently held our Spring Revival from March 30th through April 2nd. Guest Evangelist Pastors John Benedict (who grew up in the Ebenezer Baptist Church) presented the Sunday worship service message and the Monday night worship message during the Revival. John’s wife, Becky, honored the attendees with a treat by performing sign language to a song which would have thrilled anyone who enjoys the art of performing sign language for the deaf. It was very beautiful to watch. The April 1st worship service message was presented by Evangelist Pastor John Tanner. The April 2nd message was presented by Brock Mullino. All messages were very moving and powerful. Also guests enjoyed a host of gospel songs performed by various guest singers. The congregational singing was led by Carol and Lynn Taylor who regularly direct the music at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Ebenezer desperately needs a piano player for Sunday morning worship services. Please call Pastor Richard Goodwin if you are interested. We were very honored to have so many of the local churches attend our Revival and thank all those Pastors who came to support Ebenezer. We had a good attendance each night and even had a couple from Kentucky who were visiting relatives. Most of the guests stayed on Wednesday evening to enjoy an array of good foods and fellowship. Thank you all so very much for supporting our first Revival in many years.

Revival Kicks off With Fish fry Held @ Home of Pastor Richard & Veta Goodwin on March 27th

A Fish Fry was held on Thursday evening to officially kick off the Ebenezer Baptist Church Revival which begins on Sunday, March 30th with Evangelist Pastor John Benedict preaching the worship message on Sunday and again on Monday night at the Revival.

Pastor Richard cooked the fish (supplied by Tommy & Helen Blair), and Pastor Richard cooked the fries, hushpuppies, and pepper poppers. Ladies in attendance brought cole slaw, and desserts. Everyone got their tummies full of really good food, and those in attendance enjoyed the fellowship. Leftovers were delivered to 3 families who had recent medical issues and were happy to enjoy the goodies from their homes. Thank you to all who attended the fish fry and brought food.

Newly Renovated Fellowship Hall at Ebenezer Baptist Church

The Fellowship Hall was recently renovated in the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Quitman, Texas. What began as installing laminate flooring to a portion of the floor, actually became almost an entire rework of the hall. The plans kind of mushroomed into redoing the paneling on all the walls, adding trim, painting cabinets and trim, installing new lights, painting the island and giving the area a complete makeover. This labor of love was directed by Pastor Richard Goodwin’s stepson, Wayne Curtis who has a lot of experience and expertise in the building and contracting trade although he is no longer able to work at that due to medical issues. Almost every member of the church contributed in some way to this project. We thank Tommy Blair, Pastor Richard Goodwin, Helen Blair, Kitty Bailey and Chock Bailey, Trudy Ferguson and Wayne Curtis for their contributions in bringing this project to a completion just in time for our Big Revival March 31st thru April 2nd. The person who directed all the hard work was Wayne Curtis who was surprised during church on March 23rd with a gift of treasured fishing lures since he loves to fish. Thank you to all who participated in this wonderful project, and the Pastor’s wife Veta - that’s me! I helped too! We all love the Lord.

Pastor Richard Goodwin surprises his stepson, Wayne Curtis with a bag of fishing lures to thank him for overseeing the rework of the fellowship hall.

Ebenezer Church Members work together to refurbish the church fellowship hall recently. It was all hands on deck until its final completion. Thank you to all those who helped in numerous ways.
